I decided to go all out and invest in one of those expensive (wink, wink) light tents, I chose this one (click here) for a whopping $8.16 (I decided not to use the cement - I'm returning that to Home Depot - saved $2.67, 25% off the original investment!). :-) Two additional desk lamps (I already had one), another $22. Total investment - about $30.
So, was it worth it? Here's my first shot - comments welcome. In particular, do you find that green leaf distracting? Personally, I like the additional color dimension (otherwise the image would be relatively just pink & black), but not sure of the placement. Only post processing done was some cloning out of water droplets on the black cloth and very slight levels adjustment.
Total construction time for the light tent was 35min. Fun and very inexpensive project! I'd recommend it if you are looking for a quick and easy mini home studio.

Yep, looks worth it! Wanna build me one now?
Seriously, though, what did you use to cut the PVC? I have very few tools... |

Thanks!
I have a little hacksaw that I used. You could get one for about $5 (I almost bought another one cause I couldn't remember if I had one at home.) :-) |

Thanks for the comment! Great perspective on the leaf. I have not done too many floral shots, so "arranging" flowers is definitely not my forte. |

Oh my. This makes a field man like me want to build one too. Such nice shots, all of them. |

My g/f bought me one about a year ago. It was already built- some brand name box...so more expensive. But they rock.
Its really fun being able to contol the light, and having some control over the pic and not worrying about outside factors. |

I have that same tent and just love it. Took hubby only about 30 mins at most to build it for me. Edit to say .. we didn't cement it either, it makes it easier to store because it all folds up.

Even easier than a hacksaw is a PVC pipe cutter. 3-6$ and very easy to use. |

Very true, but the hacksaw is more versatile. This is the first time I have cut PVC and not sure if I will ever need to do it again. :-) |
