Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM

I took my Gmini 400 (it's only 20GB but at the time it did it's job great)
Now I'm taking RAW and on 8MPixels, so I don't know if I'll be able to fit all the pictures in 20GB)

The Gmini is great 'cause you can slot your memory card directly on the harddisk

While at the Archos website, check out the AV series too. I use one as a portable hard drive (with the optional cf reader), but also as an mp3 jukebox and for viewing mpg's. You can also use it as a dvr, but the quality is so-so. It's not as fast as the Epson, but just put it in your pocket for a few minutes while uploading a cf to the hard drive.

I use an iPod with the camera adapter. It's a little slow transfering files(about 3sec per image) but it also holds my music and has a few games to pass the time.

I think the adaptor only works with the iPod Photo and Video (the ones with colour displays).

Just in case poeple are trying to hook it up to a nano or something...

I do transfers to my ipod right now as i have nothing else its a good makeshift transfer but the problem is that it sucks the life out of the ipod. i have 1gb memory cards and i only manage two transfers befor the power is in the red. and this was also with out me listening to music.

Can you use the ipod adaptor with a CF card reader as well?

My Ipod is brand new latest and greatest!

The adaptor allows you to plug your USB cable into the dock conector, but I've never tried to conect it to a card reader. I doubt it though because most card readers are powered through the USB, and I don't think the iPod can send power.

From what I have read (and I read a lot of stuff when I was looking to buy one) was that the iPod solution sucks all your battery life in just one transfer. (can't confirm for myself though)

The other problem I found with the iPod is that you have to connect your camera to it, so you potentially loose shooting time. I have two cards, so while I connect one to my Gmini and copy the files I'm still shooting with the other.

I have a longer trip in a few months and after a fair bit of research I came to the Hyperdrive also available as PD70X. Basically a laptop hard-drive in a box with batteries and a card reader. Sees to be the fastest out there by a long way and has great battery life. Catch is that these are no secret now and the wait time is long now days.
