Okay I know I am probably in the minority here but I would love to see what kind of digital illustrations other people do from photos. It could be a fun challenge.

Sorry just trying to participate!

There's nothing stopping you from creating a challenge in a thread similar to the advanced editing challenges run previously. You'd just need a place to host the entries and allow votes/comments.

Would this be considered digital illustration...? This faired pretty bad :(

Another one (though not really digital illustration but in-between -

This one is closer to getting "illustrated" but not quite there.

I don't know what "defines" a digital illustration- it's a good question. I guess in my case I use a photo or a series of photos where I trace over objects or scenery in illustrator and then discard the photography -meaning the original photo is completely gone; where as when a photo is filtered or parts directly colored on might be "digital manipulation" since the original photo is there it's just changed or altered.

Perhaps someone knows a better way to "categorize this" but iI think it is part of the evolution of art in this "digital" age.

Well, speaking of challenges it would be practical to have on this site, I think it would be cool to have an "Illustration" challenge.

"With only Advanced Editing allowed, make your photo look like an illustration."

I realize that with the art filters this isn't particularly difficult, but I'd still like to see the competition for whose "illustration" is the best.
