I'm happy to comment on the first 5 photographs (only 1 per user) posted to this thread. I'm just an amateur so keep that in mind when reading my opinions on your image. Thanks.

Here's one that needs a comment...

Edit after comment: Thank you for the comment... I need some photos of vineyards for a project and I was sort of ambivalent about this one ... so much sky, you know. Thanks again.

Charles, I chose this one from your portfolio:

If you want something to do, I've been meaning to compile a bunch of drill data, but keep getting bogged down with other work. The data is confidential, so you'd have to kill yourself after you finish.

Pawdrix, what time of day was your octopus image taken? What kind of lighting was there? How is the background and overall image so dark? I LIKE IT.

I used a black cloth backdrop with natural light to the left and top of the image with a softbox fill up front.

The image was taken at around 3-5 PM.

Guess I'm kind of late, but I was hoping someone might be able to comment on my "Hands" entry, and why it might have done so poorly. Thanks for any help.

Guess I was bored too so I left comments for everyone on this thread (I think, but I'll go back and check).

Mathew-Thanks for the very nice comment and the favorite (gotta love that).

It's an odd image and I kinda knew that it would mostly be met by blank stares and eeeeeewwwww's across the board as it was when I posted it in the Random Thread. It was inspired by a series I saw in some off beat photo mag I picked up, where this guy was holding all sorts of stuff, dead and alive in his hands (fish, squid, dead baby chix etc). Also shot for the Water Challenge but I knew it wasn't watery enough and would also gross people out...besides, who needs the Brown Ribbon? Not me.

tinky2 thank you also for the comment.

Cheers!
