Anyone use the old pentax takumar lens with the M42 mount? I've been reading up on these and I'm very interested. I have a 50mm F1.4 on the way from ebay for portrait work.
Supposedly it's sharper then the 24-70 F2.8L and shames the 50mm F1.8. But it's manual focus only.

They are great lenses. I love my 67 versions.

Take a peek at my profile ;-)
The 50/1.4 Takumar that I own is a very nice portrait lens, but the Canon 50/1.4 is sharper across more of the frame wide open. The difference might not be readily apparent on an APS-C sensor though. I really like the little Takumar, though. It's incredibly tiny, which can be a benefit in itself.
My copy is not the later "SMC" version, which I understand may be optically better. Daryl, is the one you have coming the SMC version? |

Nope, I have the Super Takumar on the way. The SMC's are a little harder to find and more $$$.
