Just reached 7 and hoping it will stick!
Trying to focus on that instead of my sadness, just lost a very sweet cat to a speeding hit and run truck. Why these jerks think this small town neighborhood is a highway is beyond me!? He was such a great model and a sweet companion. Posting some shots to my profile to help me work thru this. :.( |

awww - how sad. I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard when we lose our furry kids. My thought are with you.

| My image is an imitation of a previous 7+ score ribbon winner. According to the comments I have received, mine seems to be a pretty good likeness, but mine is struggling to stay above 6. What gives??? |

Possibly the voters are favoring creative tributes more than virtual copies? I donno. Speaking for myself, looking back at the scores Ihave handed out, this is the case. I have seen a few practically perfect copies of some well-known winners and voted them all 6 or 7; all my high scores have gone to interpretations and parodies. I wasn't aware of this at the time, it just happened that way unconsciously.

Just finished voting on this one and I have to say it has been an absolute joy. The quality of the submissions is fantastic - some really great work. What has also been fascinating (and a real learning curve for a 'newish' member) has been the need to go back and look at the originals.
Good luck to everybody - I can honestly say I have given out considerably more 8's and 9's in this challenge than any others I have voted on. |

...the bad news is that it curved and hit the challenge title and the zero fell off before it stuck. :( |

I know one reason my score is lower than I'd hoped... after the challenge, I'll ask for suggestions on how to have fixed the problem. I did a parody of the original, and while it's very obvious which winner I parodied, I still got a comment that it wasn't a ribbon winner. I wish there was an anonymous way to respond to comments before voting was over... though I can see how that would open up a rather nasty can of worms. |

Aye, but I'm not. I was - but I'm not. I KNOW that I could have done better (though I'm not sure how right now).
Live and learn - and hope someone will tell me after this is over how (technically, not generally) I could have improved my photo.
