In making a gallery for a website, what are the things you most like and the things you most dislike?
I am trying to make one fore my website to get away from the one I have at Deviantart; and aside from using the "automate" option in photoshop I am not sure what style would best suit.
Please let me know your opinions.

I think this is great. Loads of functionality.

I like JAlbum. Easy to use, easy to customize.

As for general gallery stuff - I like easy navigation meaning arrows or something pointing you to the next photo. I hate it when each photo it a popup and requires opening and closing new windows.

Things I most dislike: things that require plug-ins (like Flash or Java).

Added for things I like:
I like Qdig (although I use a hacked version of Qdig).

For sake of disclosure, I should point out that the latter link is myself.

Another pet peeve of mine in general, although granted it isn't as bad in photography sites by their nature: using graphics of text instead of text. Apple is one of the worst companies in terms of HCI of their web site becaue of this, it's really irritating and just slows things down.
