Are these G2Gs open to non-paying members of DPC? I'm just getting started with photography as a hobby and feel like i could learn a ton by meeting others and gathering some tips. How do these G2Gs usually work? Would it be a good experience for me or would I just be a burden on the group?
Thx
Mike

A good point made by Ryan...

DPChallenge user digitalpins has sent you the following private message:

about the NYC GTG,

Hey it's digitalpins (ryan), I just remembered can you put this in your posting
on the first page of the NYC GTG post, it maybe important, but when I went to
the top of the rock before I dont think its allowed or am sure about setting up
our big tripods, BUT there is no problem at all with using the little mini
tripods. That what I took/and used the last time (my little mini tripod), in
certain places up there it's kind of small places or walkways and people cant
get by if all of us are up there using or big tripods. Dont want DPC'ers to
bring only their big tripods and then they cant use them.

If they have both a small tripod and their regular one like I do I suggest bring
them. Once we get to the top there is a small staircase and up the stairs there
are flat surfaces we can set our little tripods.

So the Zoo is at 2.

What time is the meetup at Starbucks if we want to do the bridge walk?

Where is the meeting place at the zoo?

Give me one second and i'll post it up on the top thread with a good diagram.

I explained it in a PM that I sent to everyone last week but I'll put it up here for good measure.

You might want to get a clarification on tripods from the Rock Center folks. It may be not only that they won't let you use full size tripods but they may not let you even bring them in (in the name of "security" of course). If that's the case you would have to check it if you had one with you from the zoo, and who knows if they have facilities to do that

9 a.m sounds good to me! With daylight savings time kicking in it will really be like 8 a.m. so the light should still be decent.

It's confirmed, I'm bringing aforementioned nephew! So count 2 when you see "kadi" on the lists.

Hi everybody! As much as I'd love to see all of you, it's midterm season for me, so I'm a bit bogged down. Next big planned know-where-I'm-goin' photo outing for me is the Brooklyn Botanical Garden for the cherry blossoms - so when that does happen, I'll be sure to ask y'all what yer doin' :)

Have a great time next weekend!!!

I forgot about that. We are already losing an hour of sleep. Don't any of you need beauty rest?

What, exactly, are you trying to imply here!
;-)

(I look best in dim light, anyway.)

If any of the brooklyn crew wants to get up extra early, there's a bike race in Prospect Park on Sunday. Gun is at 6:30 a.m.; men's pro-1-2-3 race is 48 miles (14 laps) = a little less than 2 hours. Should be a colorful pack - this race will probably be full (100+) if the weather stays warm. Good vantage points are the uphill portion (just southeast of Grand Army Plaza entrance) and the sweeping curves around the pond at the south end of the park.

I'm riding and then planning to meet at the zoo at 2. Looking forward to meeting you folks.

I could meet you guys around 11 or so. I don't think I'll be able to make it that early after DC GTG the previous day. Plus the time change and it's the weekend and ..... ... ... ...
