I think I ended up with a Trojan Horse. I downloaded a browser for searching for MP3's on accident. It totally changed the look of my Explorer and took me to some MP3 warez site. I tried to uninstall it and it wouldn't work for a bit and when it finally did, I restarted windows and I was on an eternal loop with the start up screen --> Sony Logo to Startup then it would pause reset then do Sony Logo to Startup screen. No stopping it. Finally went into Safe Mode and could figure out what is up. I'm in windows now with some programs running and 16 color! 16 COLOR!!! you don't know how crappy everything looks! I'm running with no config.sys because that's what the virus totally screwed up. My CD Burner is luckily working and I've backed up all my photo's. I'm about to put in my System Recovery Disc and kill my computer and then start from new. That way I figure it will wipe away everything and then I can put what I want on it, (I used to live at a college apartment with a bunch of roommates that loaded a bunch of stuff on here I've never been able to completely remove.) It's just scary to put that disc in there.
Hopefully I'll be back soon with no lasting complecations.

Sorry this happened to you - it's a reminder to all of us to back up! Luckily you did.

May the force by with you, young Jubei.

Nice reminder to all of us to burn our pics on CDs. I haven't burned mine in over a month. Would be a shame to lose my work because of a nasty virus or corrupted hard drive.

Hello Hello!!!!!! Glad I backed up the my photo's. My computer is up and running. I just don't have any programs and I had to reinstall my DSL driver to be able to get back on here. What a pain, I'm gonna have to search for my printer and scanner drivers so they'll work cause I lost the CD's. Also I took apart my computer cause my stupid DVD drive doesn't work that great( so I use my CDRW drive all the time), but the DVD drive had to have the Restore CD in it. I took apart the drive and played with it a bit and then put it back together and was able to get the CD to work.

Yes it is a reminder, BACK-UP your photos. Those were the only things on my hard drive that I really cared about and that couldn't be replaced, software can, your photos can't. I was upset this morning with the thought that I may loose them all.

The good things about this happening though is I have tons of hard drive space that isn't wasted anymore. I freed up about 4GB's that I had no clue what was taking up that space. Also meuwhahahaha, I get to use my Nikon Capture RAW software again for the trail period.

jeez, what a hectic day.

I had a Packard Bell that I had to reformat the hard drive on three times over the course of a couple of years. It was always such an awfully stressful couple of days getting it up and running again so I really have compassion for what you went through. It is nice to have a clean slate though!
