I just purchased my first Digital SLR and I am loving it. When I purchased this I also bought a SB-600. I have read the manual and can not figure out how to set this to Channel 3 so I can use it off the camera. Can anyone give me some options to try. Greatly appricate all the info.

You have to set the camera to commander mode and the flash to that mode as well the default channel is 3

Glad to hear I am not the only one. I was beginning to think that I could not do this at all I thought maybe I needed a SB 800 but I thought when I bought this they told me I could use it off the camera. I really hope you and I can figure this out.

I could use immediate help before I throw the damn things against the wall...(kidding)

It seems to have locked up (or I locked it up somehow)and there's lock icon on the unit that doesn't appear anywhere in the manual. So I'm stuck. It flashes but I have no control access.

Please....SOS!!!

Don't throw it! Just press and hold "-" and "Mode" for about two seconds and it will unlock.

To use the SB-600 wirelessly, make sure the camera is in Commander mode and then set up the flash by pressing and holding the "Zoom" and "-" buttons for about two seconds. Press the "Mode" button to turn wireless mode on, then press the On/Off switch to return. it will fire synched with the camera now.
