I've been doing lots of research and think I've settled on getting an imac as a photo editing rig. I'm a photography student and will hopefully be doing this professionally in a couple years so I see this as an investment for myself. My main concern is as follows

Color correctness-I need dead on calibration, from what I understand the imacs have the same panels in them as the cinema displays and can be calibrated. From the posts here and elsewhere apple cinema displays seem to be the way to go, so it seems the imac would be ideal.

I'm not too worried about the fact the imac is basically sealed as my alternatives are the mac mini or macbook which are also basically sealed (a g5 tower is out of the question). I plan on travelling next year to New Zealand so the imac would be easy to take with me. I've looked at a dell setup but it wouldn't be that much cheaper, plus there doesn't seem to be a clear concensus on the color accuracy of the smaller ultrasharp monitors (the 17" ultrasharp along with an e510 dual core tower is what I had in mind).

Option #2 but doubt it- a Macbook pro. I think I'd rather have the imac with its bigger display plus its 500$ cheaper.

Opinions please?
