| I can buy a used 20D which was bought in China, but I noticed there was no serial number in the gray serial number compartment on the camera bottom. The seller told me it was rubbed off by much tripod use. What do you think? Is that possible? Or is this grey market equipment? So I should stay away from it? Or is it as good as European/US make cameras? |

| I wouldn't believe it for a second. $100 says its hot. I've never seen a tripod rub a camera there. |

| serial numbers don't rub off easily with a quick mount. Something sounds a bit fishy ;) |

I would recommend you steer celar of this one. I use a tripod 90% of the time and my serial number has no wear on it at all, neither did the 300D I sold to Leroy.

| To find out, take a photo with it and examine the EXIF data. It should still be in there, regardless of whether it was rubbed off the case. Canon may have a record for whether it's legit or not. |

| Thanks, I don't think it was stolen by the seller, he is a Chinese and I believe that he has bought it in China. Maybe it was stolen before he bought it, but I wondered: do they make fake Canon cameras in China? Maybe that's what it is. I won't buy it, that's for sure. I want a camera that Canon would repair if it's broken... |
