I am just wondering how many of you purchase camera or other electronics from US over Ebay? Do you always pay high brokerage fee? any safe way can avoid of paying it??

so i can only comment on Canada
ship via USPS and the brokerage is 8$ + PST/GST
ship by canpar it is built it the the shipping cost
ship via UPS & get ripped off

Im in Toronto. Here is my experience
I bought my Nikon Coolpix 5700 from New York which was shipped by UPS, I was charged over $150 to UPS when received my camera. p.s. the camera is about $1000 at that time
The second time I bought an ipod from US that costs $350US, I asked the guy to state it as a gift and mark the price of the item to be $60 with $300 insurance shipped by USPS. I was charged only $6 when I pick up my item.
I am wondering if I can do the same when I purchase 20D like the way I purchase my ipod?? What if they found out the price of the item in the box is much more than the price state on the parcel?? thanks!!
