Our fellow DPC'er Chris, Alienyst, is apparently going through a rough time. As seen here //www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=364525 he is looking to sell all his equipment. As expressed by many in that thread, we'd hate to see him give up his hobby and lose his participation here on the site. Many in the previously mentioned thread have offered to donate what they can afford to help a friend. 25, 50, or 100 dollars can be easily blown by most and not make a difference in their life; now, that 25, 50, or 100 dollars could mean the world to another.
Please post *private offer* and pm me your contribution so I can keep up the running tab to inspire others and get the attention of those that can help. I will not share your contribution with anyone. It will be used to compile a total to see how we could help our friend.
I have pm'ed Chris to ask for a paypal address to send some help to. I will be posting that here as soon as he gets back to me. I will also be asking what kind of assistance he is needing. If we hit the needed limit, a *STOP* post will be made.
Thanks for your help... this is such an increadible community!
Running Tab: $345.00
Total Offers: 6
(I will not update the tab after each offer, but rather a few or more to help keep personal offers private)

You can count me in ;) As far as funding, I think it would be better off done in private so people don't feel they have to match other folks contributions. I think this is great. But we haven't really heard from Chris and we don't know what the situation is right now.
Just a thought ;) Great job by the way Ryan ;) |

Up my donation to "edited" and please let me know the paypal address when you get it. All the best!
"edited" = I agree with Rikki. I dont want to pressure anyone into doing more than they are comfortable with.

I see what your saying. It'd be nice just to know what we could do for him.
Obviously there's no pressure to give anything. Only part with what you're willing to do without, however much that may be. 2 dollars or *edit in respect to CzechMan and others* like CzechMan.

I also think the running tab would inspire people to take part. If it's all done behind closed doors it won't get attention to bring in those that could help him. Kind of like the mob theory... we're all getting together for the same cause. |

When we raised funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, we all just did our own thing and the results were posted at a later date.
My feeling is that not knowing what Chris is going through at this time, I think we should just sit and wait until we hear back from him ;) Either way, I think this is a great effort and if I were in his position, I would just be staggered by the amount of support our little community is willing to extend to him ;)
Cheers,
Rikki |

I think the proper way to handle it, is post your offer if you want it to be added to the running tab, or just post "private offer" and we'll keep a "private offer" total
that way you can do what your comfortable doing

Maybe, if its not too hard on your email box, everyone can send you a PM? I think the other important thing that Rikki touched on, is Chris going to accept these funds? Some people are too proud (not meant as an insult) to take it. I know I would be moved by the gesture, but would probably graciously refuse. Just my 2 cents though... |

If Chris doesn't want it, I'd be grateful to accept it on his behalf :p |

Little King. I just sent you my offer. Please PM me if we are going through with it. I agree with Rikki in that as generous as our offer to help may be we should check with Chris as to the help he really needs (and wants!)
Well done everybody. |

I honestly appreciate all of this help and concern - thank you all. However, I must ask that you do not part with your funds on my behalf...please do not do this. I know I have done exactly that for others and that is my nature, but money is not the only problem here.
I would to go into detail, but at this time just can't. Let us just say that yesterday my world was shattered in a way that money just will not repair.
Again, I appreciate all the thoughts, but please cease and desist in this effort. Thank you all. |
