Discontinued?

I'm currently lamenting this, as I really wanted to get a 5D body at the end of the summer after I saved up enough money from working. I really needed a Maxxum because I already have an SLR with lenses for it, so all I'd really need is digital body. The 7D is a bit too much for me, and I'm sure I'd be just as happy with the 5D as well.

If anyone's selling one now, or might be in the near future, please let me know :(

Sounds worrying... I was going to buy a 5D soon as a backup.

ebay auction

There are quite a few on Ebay... this one is listed as new in box with extras.

thanks, but what i really need is just the body only. i can't really afford/am not willing to spend the money on anything more since i already have some things and can probably pick up the others as i go along. once in a while i see just a body for sale, but never as cheap as B&H's prices, and i'm also somewhat worried about warranties...which is why i'm hesitant to buy something this big as a new item over ebay.

B&H still have the 5D with 18-70 advertised and marked as "In Stock".

The 5D hasn't been made available body only yet here in Australia, AFAIK, it's still only available as a kit with 18-70 lens or with 18-70 and 75-300 lenses. Maybe the same is true in the US, and B&H have prematurely created a catalogue item for it, so the system says "discontinued" because it doesn't have a status code for "not yet available"?

You will still be able to get some bodies and lenses will be available for a long time yet. However, there will be nothing following.. unless you want a SOny that thinks it's Minolta!

They used to be available a few weeks ago :(

I thought Sony buying Minolta was a good thing?
