depends on what kind of quality your looking for, but you can usually get older models of name brand printers for under 300$
Is this for selling or for personal enjoyment?

You can check here for printer reviews and click on the links for finding prices.
Steve's Reviews
They have alot of info that you can use to make an informed decision, based on both price and printer capabilities. |

We have a Canon i960 that we paid $170 for new a couple years ago. People are always surprised that they are not from a lab. The printer has rave reviews online.
However, I am sure they are not archival inks so it all depends on what your planned use is :)

I have been quite impressed with my $70 (after rebate) Epson Stylus Photo R200 which is really an R300 without the BS card reader and LCD options. It's a 6 Cart Inkjet that the photo quality is as good or better than the Canon S9000 that I have at work.

I love my Epson R300. The whole R3xx series are all the same basic machine, some with a built in LCD screen - which you really only need if you are printing directly from your camera or other media.
The price shouldnt be over $150 and it has individual inks which are cheaper in the long run. |
