I just thought I would share my good fortune
I shot this Guy
Here

The best Part is this.
From //www.niagaraparks.com/nature/navyisland.php

"Navy Island may soon become home to nesting Bald Eagles. These birds have not been seen in the Niagara area since around the 1940's to 1950's. The cause of their disappearance is due to pollution of the Niagara River by chemicals from nearby plants. Lethal doses of toxic chemicals were found in blood samples taken from bird remains. Both Canada and the United States banned the use of such chemicals in l970, and since that time the waters of the Niagara River have become less polluted. Naturalists are hoping to attract the majestic bird back to mating in Niagara by building a platform large enough to accommodate the great birds' nest which can be anywhere in size from six feet wide and four feet long, and weigh as much as three tons. Eagles mate for life and return to the same nest each year. The island is a perfect choice for their new home as it remote, surrounded by water and will have a steady supply of fish and aquatic species for the birds̢۪ consumption.

That is awesome, congrats on super shot.

Not many of us will ever see one in the wild, you saw one AND got a fine photo. Very nice.

Thanks Sue .
I have talked to a few bird watchers that I have met down at my favorite bird shooting spot ,and they had told me that they came here to look for these guys out on the Island but they did not see them .I guess that is the biggest reason for my excitment of todays find .I also have looked for them before and did not see them . So now that I know where to find them I am hoping to get better shots of the majestic birds. I think I found thier nest in a big old tree in the middle of the Island it is kind of hard to see from the main land but I did see the bird fly out of the trees from that spot and I can't see it very well but it sure looks like an eagles nest ,mostly because of it's size :)

we had an eagles nest here locally, but unfortunally, the eagles only stuck around for about 4 months. they left the next and have not been seen since, were guessing that they felt it was to busy of an area for the female to lay her eggs. i got a few photos, but nothing near as nice as yours. i need better and longer glass for that stuff.

Awesome catch!
Seeing Bald Eagles in the wild I would assume would leave one speechless.

One of these days I will shoot (photographically of course) one in the wild.
So far all I have managed is a few of Red-Tailed Hawks
(didn't mean to hijack this and added link instead of thumbs - my bad)

Wow, Randy, fantastic capture!
I should have known you were going after Eagles...I've heard of a spotting of just one in my area and I've had a kink in my neck ever since. Haven't seen it yet. Also, I met my son at Mohican State park for lunch about a week or so ago and right after I left, he spotted two. He said they perched for a few minutes right in front of them and then soared off in all their glory. He didn't have his camera with him, though.

Congrats, great shot!
We have a LOT of them around here, and I've got several shots, including video of one snatching a fish, but I haven't managed one like THAT.... yet... :)

I was at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge today and had a pair of Bald Eagles fly over, but the doggone lens wouldn't autofocus. I remember thinking, "oh cool, I'll get a shot like RANDOD got the other day". Guess I'll try manual focus next time.

Actually it was Ohio on the southwestern shore of Lake Erie. Not sure why they call it Ottawa. It was my first visit, and I happened across it on my way to another park. Anyway, it was a balmy forty degrees, sun shining, but a slight breeze I could have done without. I'll start another thread with today's pics after I get back from a meeting.

Nice raptor capture.
