I'm off to to do the Ritz buy 2 filters get one free thing, 77 thread and a stepdown ring or two.

I know that I will be getting a circular polarizer but what other two filters would you guys pick up? I got UV filters, so what other "creative" filters you guys using?

Red looks interesting for black and white but I can do that in the 20D...

Suggestions welcome...

Thanx...Andy

I'd guess that a graduated Neutral Density filter would be the most useful "special" filter. It helps even out the exposure between bright skies and dark foregrounds.

Yeah ND... and what about an IR filter? Will that work with your camera?

I love my ND filters. I own two, and each one reduces the light entering my lens by 3 stops. So if I stack them, in cuts the light by 6 stops, which is a factor of 64! Great for lengthening exposure times when you want moving water to appear blurred, etc. I want to buy a graduated ND filter, too, but the 77mm ones are really expensive.

I would agree that you probably don't need a red filter for black and white photos, since you say you can get pretty much the same effect in camera (or at least in photoshop you can reproduce the effect).
