I'm off to to do the Ritz buy 2 filters get one free thing, 77 thread and a stepdown ring or two.
I know that I will be getting a circular polarizer but what other two filters would you guys pick up? I got UV filters, so what other "creative" filters you guys using?
Red looks interesting for black and white but I can do that in the 20D...
Suggestions welcome...

| I'd guess that a graduated Neutral Density filter would be the most useful "special" filter. It helps even out the exposure between bright skies and dark foregrounds. |

| Yeah ND... and what about an IR filter? Will that work with your camera? |

I love my ND filters. I own two, and each one reduces the light entering my lens by 3 stops. So if I stack them, in cuts the light by 6 stops, which is a factor of 64! Great for lengthening exposure times when you want moving water to appear blurred, etc. I want to buy a graduated ND filter, too, but the 77mm ones are really expensive.
I would agree that you probably don't need a red filter for black and white photos, since you say you can get pretty much the same effect in camera (or at least in photoshop you can reproduce the effect). |
