Kirbic and I hiked in Hieroglyphic Canyon in the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, Arizona USA late this afternoon. Tomorrow it is a quickie photo safari up to Sedona for a day trip.
He told me to tell all of you... "Eat your hearts out, DPCers!"

Nope... The rain last weekend did start to green up the desert a little but I think the wildflowers are a total loss this year. :(

Rats.
I was down by Tucson in January. I took a trip by Saguaro Ntl. Park. Prickly Pears were just suffering, shriveled & browning! Hope they are starting to feel better now! |

Nice pictures. I especially like the lizard but DSC01271w.jpg is very interesting too.

He does get around, doesn't he? I bet he enjoyed that weather better than our Cape Cod weather a few weeks ago.
One niggle: is that REALLY called "Heiroglyphic Vanyon"? Hieroglyphs are an Eqyptian form of written communication; maybe other cultures made hieroglyphs also, I don't know. But those appear to be "petroglyphs", writing in stone...
Robt.
Edit to add: Google shows the Canyon's actually named that. Some think it's a misnomer. "Hieroglyph" usually refers to the Egyptian characters; lieterally, it translates into "Sacred Writing". "Petroglyph" is "Stone Writing". There are those who say that other "alphabets" are hieroglyphic in anture, notably those of mesoamerica, so I suppose these may be petroglyphs of Hieroglyphic symbols.
More than anyone wanted to know, right?

Glad you liked the lizard... I do to. I liked it so much that I included it in the gallery showing I had in January. I had t chase that bugger around for about an hour to get it.
