I won that mini-duel. I gave Cindi her conditions in addition to the challenge description. However, Bear_music stated that my additional conditions should allow for Cindi, if taken well, to score high. Of course we are not here to humiliate fellow photographers. Let's just say, it just makes it just a tad harder ;)

Yep - I'm up for that. One on condition: the winner flies the other's profile image on their profile page for the week as a kind of victory lap. i.e. you get to put on the cape :)

you mean "should i lose" i have to put your caped crusader as my profile photo?

in addition, since this is a "technical challenge" we should meet the challenge exactly as it has been described - exactly 2 seconds - no more, no less. We can ask SC to verify our individual EXIFs and should you win the average score but fail to meet the 2 seconds as stated on the challenge description, you get a DQ in our mini-duel.

Agreed? Bring it on Batman!

Well, I don't know how you guys do it in Fremont but we Australians always play by the rules. 2 secs it is, 2 secs it will be.

I don't plan on it being that close mate ;)

But if you would like I can have Nic pull her score on my entry and we could have that confirmed by SC - Just to make it totally even.

let the scores fall where they fall ;)

OK. As I understand it, the "winner" between Rikki and GIS_boy in the 2-second challenge will dictate the conditions of the "loser's" entry in the next-posted Member's challenge. I'll look at the challenge Sunday night and give terms & conditions to the "winner" based on the topic of that challenge, and within those terms & conditions he can place such restrictions as he wishes on the "loser's" entry.

Spot on Bear. In addition to this, the "loser" must upload the "winner's" profile photo onto their profile for a period of 1 week. This is to be done by Rikki, (oops sorry) the "loser" as soon as the result is determined.

I shall not be trying to pick which one is Rikki's or which one is the Boy's...

All this talk of lighting and no flash, etc, is a bit confusing to me. All I did was keep adjusting my f/stop till it "worked" without a flash, and indoors, and with normal lighting conditions. If a flash is going to give you a straight shot of a dog as Shutterpug did, which is a very good shot, and still at 2 seconds, then it will be confusing to vote when one is looking for the challenge requirements factor.

My entry will, or I should say "should", be able to be seen that it is a longer exposed shot. I can't tell by the dog photo though.

Hmmm, may have to change my voting stadegy on this one. I know there can be many creative shots that can be done with 2 seconds. I did one myself and have been experimenting with long exposures for the better part of this week. I also will be able to tell the difference between a 30 second exposure and a 2 second. Obviously in 2 seconds there isn't much chance for very dreamy waterfalls to happen or for it to seem people are rising from the dead or some others I have seen in challenges before.

Also, what jbsmithana said is true. Council only need check the top shots to keep others in line. It is just going to be rough on the voters though if someone just goes out and shoots any old "stand still" landscape at 2 seconds.

I feel a bit of drama about to happen with this one. I see a lot of DQ requests and flip flopping of scores and a lot of complainers. For me, I have no worries. My shot meets all requirements and for those that can tell a 2 second exposure, mine will be quite easy to vote on. But who knows. For the newbies that don't know the difference, my photo too may fail. LOL...I guess this is going to be one of those challenges where it is really anyones ball game.

Rose

Hi Rose. Good luck in the challenge. For the record - if the lighting is correct, 2 seconds is plenty long enough to get a dreamy waterfall shot.

Filters are a handy tool also in slowing things down allowing for smaller apertures and greater DOF.

Hmmmm, never good news. :-(

You sound damn confident too! Well there goes the blue I guess, there is still the chance of a red or a yellow for us Rikki. Of course the yellow would have to be yours. ;-}

I'm not taking on GIS boy, Rikki, or kiwiness for that matter. And I'm rooting for manic35 to take all of you down!

But I'll be in. Anyone want to fight it out in the high 4 - mid 5 range?? :-)

Ummm, nevermind. Just checked the EXIF and though I have no recollection of changing anything, the shot I was planning to use was at 1/6 sec. Could explain why I liked it best... Sigh.
