| That the cost of the Canon Rebel XT went down $100 this past week? I believe the Nikon D50 has also been going down. I asked the guy at the local camera shop if they're getting ready to come out with a new digital Rebel, and he said he didn't think so. He usually keeps up with that kind of stuff. This has led to a Ragamuffin theory/hope. Currently the D30 only costs about $100 more than the D20. Similarly the D200 only costs a little more than the D70. My theory is that Canon and Nikon are going to dump the Rebel and D50, and drop the prices of the D 70 and D20 into the price range previously occupied by D60 and Rebel XT....which would put them in my possibility range! Here's hoping I'm right. :) |

With Canon getting ready to release the 30D, your theory of repricing is quite possible. I haven't seen any plans of replacing the Rebel XT though.

| Quite a few companies and manufacturer's will run special rates at the end of every quarter in attempt to meet sales quotas! |

Damn...so, should I go ahead and put an XT on lay-away, or hold onto my hope of the 20D dropping enough to fall into my price range? My other dilema is that if I get a new camera, then my trip to London is off. But, do I want to go to London with a camera that might fail me? |

ANY ONE looking for a XT (especialy should check out Henry's site! There opening a new store in Orleansthis saturday and they have some great deals!
D-Rebel XT- $999.99 with Kit lense
(special package you can add the EF 75-300mm for a total of 199.99 before taxes!)
Nikon D70s- $1349.99 (kit)
Those are the two big ones, but they also have great deals on Panasonic's, Figi Film, Olympus and sony. Anyone looking should check it out. And if your in the Ottawa area come to one of the Henry's branches for the gift certificate hand out thing!
Should be good! lots of demos at the Orleans store!

what's wrong with the EVOLT? It's a great camera and a dSLR so jumping to the 20D wont give you significant improvements, I think. Go for your trip and enjoy yourself - there are things that are better experienced through our pupils than through a digital sensor :) |

Since so many of you seem to be watching the prices, and I haven't. I only noticed this one when I was shopping for my lens, and thought it was a bit low. Is it?

You can get the basic XT kit at Costco for $799. It's 899 everywhere else around here.
