This might be a silly question, but will dust in your digital SLR affect your focus? I really need to take my camera somewhere and get the dust blown out of it. |

You mean, will it affect the AF mechanism's efficiency? I suppose if the mirror were VERY filthy it might, but the AF operates independent of the sensor, so sensor dust won't affect focus. I suppose if the densor were really crudded up, it could/would make everythign soft and muddy, but it's a resolution issue more than a focus issue I think.
I donno. Kirbic would know.

This Link illustrates the typical SLR camera focusing system. Most modern SLR and DSLR cameras use a nearly identical system. It appears that dust on the main sensor cover is unlikely to cause focusing problems. However, excessive dust on the AF sensor could limit the ability of the camera to focus under some circumstances.
