I suppose to some it's just a ribbon, but there are definately those who worked hard to earn it.
I would imagine.
Let's hear some experiences?
Did you go out and celebrate? Jumped around?
Feel over-the-moon for days-on-end?
Does the feeling leave you quickly? Does winning a ribbon make it harder for you to submit again?
:) |

Well, I gotta tell ya - the phones were ringing off the hook, the offers came pouring in and I had visits from relatives I never knew I had. But things eventually settled back down. ;-P |

LOL @ Art.
Yeah, I kinda suspected it would be like that.
Oh the glamour and the glory...
Good thing it dies down doesn't it? |

Oh yeah - people hardly know who I am anymore. In retrospect, I think I only got twelve minutes and thirty nine seconds instead of the customary fifteen. Oh well, I'll always have my footprints in the cement at that Chinese restaurant. |

I think everyone will deal with that differently, for me it has been a hard adjustment. I used to be very happy with a score that was above 6 but now I feel I really need to back-up my ribbon with a second ribbon to 'prove' myself, (I don't want to be a 'one-hit-wonder'!).
Since my ribbon I've scored a 5th and a 7th and it's a real anti-climax to get so close and come away with nothing. Working VERY hard on 2 Second Exposure....maybe this will be the one? ;)

I kept checking to make sure I really got a ribbon. I checked the main page, then I'd check my profile page, then the main page again lol...It's, strangely, rather rewarding...but as was mentioned above, once you win one, you just want more.

It was only my fourth challenge, so I was fairly new to DPC. I knew my pic was pulling a 6.9 or so all week, so I was excited but really didn't think it would be high enough to ribbon. Got up the morning after the rollover and scanned the front page and it took me a minute to realize that my pic was there. I think I was looking from right to left, never imagining that I would get blue...
Couldn't believe it. Got real nervous about being asked to submit my original. Was I busted? Had I been suspected of foul play?
Now I'm a one-hit wonder. Struck blue and never been back... |

| I was estatic! I finally had a reason for my wife on why I plunked so much money down on this camera. She was extremely happy for me and said "Great! How much money did you win?" :-( |

LOL!! Must be impossible to try an explain the (supposed) gratification and honor to someone who is foreign to dpchallenge and winning ribbons?

I didn't think my first one was in ribbon range. In fact, I was keeping my fingers crossed for top 10 and BAM.... there it was in 2nd place! I almost fainted.
The 2nd one was also a low score for ribbon range, but managed to pull blue with a 7.01.... Another shocker.
Seems I like to sneek into the top 3 group when nobody's looking. :)

My first ribbon felt a bit anti-climactic actually!
Well, maybe thatâs the wrong word.
I felt as though I hadnât really âwonâ first place as I had actually come in third and eventually the first and second place photos were disqualified.
So I felt (and still do) as though I had only taken a third place shot.
My next ribbon I also felt a little disappointed in as there were only 97 entrants in that challenge.
I have a lot of respect for the ribbon winners in a challenge with 500+ entries to compete against.
But, finally, my third ribbon, I was very very pleased with!!!

Well, after I picked her up off the floor, she was still a little faint so she couldn't say too much while I was explaning how important the little digital ribbon next to my photo was. :-) |
