| i,m wondering if anyone has ever used compressed air in a can to clean dust from sensors and lenses, if not, what is the best and easiest way to keep them clean? |

Don't use them.
They have liquid propellents and if they land on the sensor, it can cause streaks/marks to appear on your shots.
Use a large hand powered air bulb instead.

do not use compressed air
..
Heck, I use a t-shirt and a vacuum cleaner...I'm pretty brutal with my methods, and even I wouldn't use compressed air.

I would say that it would be a good policy to avoid touching the sensor with anything other than the proper equipment. You can buy sensor cleaning kits.
Cleaning lenses is significantly less hazardous than cleaning sensors. I am not afraid to use a silk tie or a cotton shirt (I use the underside which is less likely to be contaminated with dust).
I recently picked up a lens pen for a few bucks and it's fantastic at cleaning lenses. It doesn't leave any little marks or streaks like a t-shirt usually does.
I just about went insane when I went to Hong Kong and I tried cleaning my lens, but between humidity in the air and sweaty fingers, I could NOT get a streak-free lens on my little S30. I went to a store and they sold me some overpriced bit of cloth which did nothing and I was quite irritated.
A lens pen would have taken care of that in a matter of moments. |

Absolutely not, they leave fibers behind. NEVER use them on the sensor, you're in for a world of hurt if you do.
