Thanks to Drachoo
I am pleased to announce a new addition to my meagre arsenal, my first "L" lense, Canon 17-40L.
All I need now is some spare time :-)

Congrats, I'm happy for you! I hope you'll get plenty of chances to use it soon.
I, too, have a new addition. It arrived today. It is HUGE, fast, silent and takes great pics!!! However...... how does one carry such a monster (plus all the other gear) around for several hours?

How does one carry the "elephant lens?"
In it's trunk, of course! :-P
Now that you're done groaning... what I do when the lens is on the camera is to shift the camera/lens toward my side and hook my finger into the lens shade, taking the weight off the neck strap. I can pretty much use this bugger as an all-day walk-around using this technique.

Hmmm... I hate the neck strap, gave up on it ages ago and made a hand strap, instead.
Perhaps I could invent something that will let me slip the tripod bracket in to take the weight off. Or a belt holster of some sort.... hmmm...... *walks off scratching her head* |

New toys are always fun!
My 50mm f1.8 II arrived on Friday evening. Took some pics then, but they got lost in the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2006....
But then on Saturday, came home from golf and found my very first lizard here in Texas!! Woo hoo! Used to have tons of them when I lived in Florida, but I live in a new housing development and it's taken them (the lizards) awhile to come 'round. Hopefully he stays!

Yeah, that would be a tough walk around lens. :)
Maybe one of those backpacks would work well. |
