I am building a website - a discussion site for stock photography. On it I have interviews with photographers. such as this page (interview with myself to try an figure out how it was all going to work)
:S)interview

anyhow, my question is.. it is proper or allright web etiquette to have those images hotlinked to the dreamstime site. I know hot linking images is in principle a bad thing to do, however, since the images are a link to the images on dreamstime I thought it was ok. The referral links they give out are in a sense hot links to their site, and show images from their site...

anyhow, any thoughts?

I'm of the opinion that hot linking= baaaaaad because you're using their bandwidth but not showing their picture in the full context of their page.

But on the other hand there is probably an equally good argument against saving the images to your site and linking to their site.

yeah, well I agree with you, except the exception of that since it is a direct link to their purchasing site, it is basically a referral link.. which they are willing to pay for (donate their bandwidth) for... perhaps i will just email the site directly, I just have doubts they will ever get back to replying... i guess I will try.
