After getting some feed back from the challenge this is what I've come up with, what do you think?

Somewhere in between. In the 2nd you've lost the detail in the eyes. Right track, just not so much.

I agree, the second one looks washed out.

I was thinking the same but wasn't sure if it was just me. I think this one looks a little better but still not right.

Put them both into PS on different layers and layer mask them in to create a good photo.
