I'm so excited. I just signed up for a photography workshop/weekend in March with Darwin Wiggett.

It's going to be a long wait.

For more landscape images - check out the galleries here...

Workshop starts next Thursday. I can hardly wait. Why couldn't today be next Wednesday?

Mind you, all day I was thinking it was Thursday. Must be short week syndrome.

Just out of curiosity. How much?

While I'm at it, some good articles on Darwin Wiggett's site.

If you need a laugh, check out the Humour gallery on the site. I never knew bears played basketball.

$459 CDN for Thursday evening to Sunday noon. All meals and accommodation included. It's hosted at a B & B in the Rockies.

Here's the link to all the workshops etc...

Definately. How can you tell I can't wait? I've responded the most to my own thread.

I finally got most of my images from last weekend processed. I still have one roll of film to get developed but I'll post some of those later.

Here are a few:

Sounds great...
I was waiting to see your posted images and then managed to somehow miss it! DUH!
I looked at Mr Wiggett's online gallery and really like some of the images there.
Can you share any more about what the workshop was like and what tips and tricks he gave and how he taught you?
:o)

It was very informal. He presented a couple of slide shows the first evening and explained how he accomplished the shots. We also had a couple of critique sessions where he critiqued our photos. His techniques are very simple but effective. He mostly uses grad and polarizer filters to get the results he wants. He's very open to questions. He's like a kid in a candy store when it comes to photography.

The best part of the workshop was him showing us the locations at the right time of day. He knows the Canadian Rockies like the back of his hand and when one location doesn't work (mother nature not cooperating) he always has a backup.

1) f22, focus 1/3 of the way in to the shot
2) squinting technique to determine dynamic range and which grad filter is needed - when squinting the shadows turn to black and the bright areas tone down a bit

Our group size was 9 (1 over the max) but in future the max is being cut back to 6 to get more one on one opportunities. If noone was asking questions Mr. Wiggett was off doing his own thing.

Here's an article in the Red Deer Advocate about the lodge and the workshops. The previous workshop had very cold weather (-28C).

//reddeeradvocate.com
(Using the 'Story Archives' keyword search on the right, search for Aurum Lodge)

I tried posting the actual link to the article found but the link was giving problems.

edit: thanks Sue (suemack) for the comments and favourite

... and thanks to all others who have stopped by to take a look
