For those of you that don't know yet - South Africa lost the 4the One Day Interbational against the Aussies in Durban Yesterday.
After being 2 - 0 ahead in the 5 match series, the scores are now 2 - 2 - thus making the 5th ODI in Johannesburg a final.

South Africa batted first and made 246 (Lowish Total for the Kingsmead). The Aussies came and started of very well until a couple of wickets fell.
THEN CAME SYMONDS - WOW - what a batsmen. He made a very quick 70 odd runs - almost winning the game for Australia before he got bowled by Telemachus. Here I thought South Africa was going to win, but the Aussie tail held on and played well for their win.

it's cricket man. Not normally the teams I would cheer for but there's still one more match to go.

I once saw a really spectacular come from behind win by the aussies against pakistan in nyc many years ago. basically the equivalent to fottball's hail mary. quite sweet!

Cricket is almost like baseball (also bat and ball and fielders) Cricket has bowlers in stead of pitchers etc. Cricket in South Africa carry great support. Australia is the current world champions and they are extremely good.
A win for South Africa would've meant that we take the 5 game series. After a very nail-biting finish Australia won the game.
To give you an idea - South Africa's best Batsmen (Boeta Dippenaar - made 101 runs) was put on IV after he batted due to de-hydration and heat exhaustion.

In related news... South Africa lost to the USA today (Friday) in world baseball competion held here in Phoenix, Arizona USA. The final score was 17-0. The "mercy rule" was invoked in the 7th inning to end the game.

LOL - I can't say that I am very surprised. South Africa not realy known for their baseball skills. Congrats to the USA. Maybe the USA must take the South African Cricket or rugby teams on.

Definately - It is actualy a pity that baseball is not bigger in South Africa. I think it is due to cricket. I love baseball - We do have Softball in some of our schools - I remember playing baseball during breaks in school - all of us on a field just hitting the ball around. More often than not our basball game will turn into a cricket game.
