Ok so Im not deperate but I thought it would make people look :) Anywho I have a new collection of pics of the local area and wanted to know your thoughts on them, like them, not, subjects, editing etc. Some of them I did major editing to and some not much at all. Ive been using the dodge burn tool alot and might have gone overboard on some. I just want gut reactions (as well as technical of course) Do you feel anything when you look at these?

most of them look pretty good. there are a couple however that look as if you tried to "save" them

I cant stand to throw away a picture so i yah I probably did try to save un-worthy ones :) Some of them were taken in glaring bright daylight which didnt help anything. Which ones look like that? Im too close to my pictures, thats why this site is great, if its crap people will tell you :)

Over the Edge and Softness were the only ones I didn't like. Besides that they look pretty good

One of my favourites is property lines (bottom part anyway). The mountains are way too blue. This could have been a candidate for the square crop as the fence and the brush in the foreground are very pleasing.

A graduated ND filter may have helped to tone down the sky/mountains.

I would love to know how you got such bold colors. I am a sucker for rich colors and you have really captured that! As soon as I opened them the colors grabbed me. Well done!

Well Im a fan of color, I have to do quite a bit of saturating them sometimes, when they come off the camera they just arent the way I saw them in my head. So I do a little bit with levels and if that doesnt work I go to curves and contrast adjusting certain colors hue works sometimes also, though I have to be careful with that as it will make the other colors look off sometimes.

Over the edge I did oversharpen, ill try to correct that, probably redo the whole thing, see if I can save it :) and softness is called that because it was too soft, the sun was so bright I tried to soften it some and ened up making it look, well soft. I figured that was the one you were talking about.

The Lakefront is a nice tranquel setting, did you use a Cokin Filter for the colour.

That's a beautiful collection, Naomi! I especially like "Looking past the surface" and "Over the hill".

no idea what that is so probably not. :) thanks all for the comments, especially Persimon who commented on every one. I love the colors of the land I live in and try to convey that in my pictures. Looking past the surface was a happy accident with burning, I just love that one, it has such a weird depth to it.

Anywho, again, thanks for the comments and Ill be looking through all of your portfolios as well and leaving comments.

edit: lLooking past the surface looks awesome as a desktop background, gives it a weird depth...
