Does anyone know where to find a blown up (not blown out, I have plenty of those) image of the internals of a rebel xt? A picture that shows where all the gizmos and doodads on the inside of it are supposed to go and how they line up? Thanks. |

hahah, I was thinking the same thing...
I doubt you will find a proper electrical schematic of the 350D.
The fact you call the internals of the 350d "Gizmos & Doodahs" leads me to believe youi may not be fully qualified to repair it yourself..
What about this??

I think these kind of things can be found on Kazaa or other P2P software. I have found complete Photoshop manuals and photography books on Kazaa, and other neat software. |

Which by the sounds of it is incredibly illegal. |

it's not a good thing that i'm looking for a blown up image. i've been having about a 6-month battle with my autofocus. i'm to the point now, where i can get it to autofocus just fine, and everything works....except it only works right when you hold the camera upside down. i can hear something rattling inside the camera. when i hold the camera right side up it rattles to the bottom and the autofocus doesn't work. when i hold the camera upside down it rattles to the top and the autofocus starts working again. |

Those blown up images that were posted looked pretty close to what i was looking for, but unfortunately I still can't make out what is loose. The rattle is definately coming from inside the top/viewfinder area.
And as far as being qualified to tear it apart, I'm a last semester senior engineering student. I tear stuff up all the time. Some of even goes back together correctly.
But just for craps and giggles, I had to call canon customer support and tell them that my autofocus would only work when i held the camera upside down. Canon rep: "Ummm... Never heard of that.... you're gonna need to send it back." |

My 300D has a rattle too. I just try not to shake it!
Sounds like some wee bit of plastic.
The shutter ass'y has squeaked a few times too. VERY unnerving to say the least.
It works, it's out of warranty...over 1,000 shots since those things manifested themsleves.
i am getting a 30D any day now so this will be a backup/second body for weddings. I'll worry about it when it ceases to function.
