We have it set for May 6th and haven't decided a time yet. We have people coming from all over the state and neighboring states. So, need to look at how early is too early? Kwim? Natural Bridge is the location. Further details to come. Yeah!!!

Me too, I'm in Eastern KY too. I think we could go ahead and discuss it. I am thinking early, since it might get hot then and as far as location, my husband said Miguels. Diana may know a better location.

sky lift parking area would be great, parking may be limited in other lots.it's the same parking lot for the minature golf corse.you can use the lift to go up to the bridge or drive to the lodge and walk the trails to the natural bridge arch. |

Don't forget there are around 120 arches in the Red River Gorge which is very close to Natural Bridge. The bridge itself is awesome but the surrounding country is just as nice. Last time I was up there the skylift was shut down for the season. Its about 3/4 to 1 mile to the top of the bridge from the parking lot. It is a pretty good incline so bring water, good hiking shoes, a walking stick and since it is going to be in may bring your macro lenses the wildflowers should be blooming, trillium, squirrellcorn, dutchmans breetches, etc... the spring crowds at the bridge can be overwhelming too, the gorge is so close if you get there and it is too crowded you can get on the sheltowee trace and walk for miles along a nice stream or up over a mountain. Make sure to climb to the top of the bridge and get the view while you are there and there is a nice view of the bridge from the adjoining ridge. |

Hopefully I will be able to make it, that is a little close to finals but I should be able to swing it since it is on a Saturday. BTW there are at least 3 different trails that lead to the bride all coming from different directions. So if your extremely claustrophobic there is another way.

Okay, lets pick a time and meet location. How early is too early? 8 am, 9 am and how late is too late? Looks like the large parking lot near the sky lift might be a good central location. Diane and others who have been there might know better. Let pull this thing together guys.

The Skylift parking lot would be a good place to meet or the parking lot at the lower gift shop. Personally I am flexible on the time. 8 or 9 am sounds fine to me.
EDIT
Just found this on the KY Dept of parks website. Looks like you guys picked a good time to go.

man I hope I can still make this. Last night a friend told me that a friend of ours is trying to get a hold of me cause she is getting married here in Chicago sometime in May and wants me to photograph it. Still waiting to hear from her as to the actual date of it...(I'm hoping it isn't the weekend of the 12th either since that is my b-day.)
I'll keep you all advised, hope it works out that I can go.
