i have posted a photograph in the comfort challenge and everyday I am getting more surprised to notice that a very few of the commenters are actually serious about or have the gray matter to feel the difference between comfort and pain. I am extremely sorry to say this but I think the admin should atleast change some of their rules about voting so that a lot of photographs by serious photographers don`t get wasted in the process of casual voting by the people who don`t feel, think & know anything about photography or photographic ideas.

You mean people who see, think or interpret differently than you?

as much as it pains me to post on yet another thread concerning this topic...

if you aren't ready to accept comments from a wide variety of viewpoints then don't post your pictures in a public forum.

it is not only about my photographs but there are several good ones too which are misinterpreted or over looked.even very good compositions are thrown away in the bin.though its all about perception but i feel a lot of people vote very casually.

That's life. Any time you ask a variety of people for their opinion you're going to get a variety of responses, some carefully thought through, some not. We live with it, we learn from it.

TRUE - I am one of those people, I am not a professional - I do photography as a hobby (not very good at it), but I do appreciate a good photo.
I don't know much about Composition,Noise,Rule of 6 and whatever else the professionals look it. I look at a photo - if it is at least in focus and looks nice - I will score it good and if not - I will score it less.
Unfortunately for you - people like me will vote your photo and if in my point of view it is not nice - I will vote it low - doesn't matter to me if it is "photographically correct" or not - what appeals to me is the quality. Some photos I don't like - no matter how good it is.

And old and much-repeated complaint here, and this won't be the last time either. there ar a number of very committed, highly competent and highly individual photographers here - all of whom, I think, have learnt to live with the reactions of viewers who have years less photographic experience than themselves, and far less 'understanding'. Some people will vote on entirely technical details - focus, detail, la la la, and some will vote on impact after a near-lifetime of looking at photographs. The former vastly outnumber the latter - inevitably.

If you want juried competitions, then you must enter jurued competitions, and not those who ask all memebers to vote with no qualification.

I agree - I love to vote, and I should think that as a photographer you would want the avg man on the street to appreciate your photo - not only the professionals. Your challenge is to produce a photo that appeals to everybody.

Of course a lot of people vote casually - this is a public amatuer site. It's a hobby site, a fun site, a site for learning.

It is NOT a serious or professional site.
