Can anybody naviagte the nVidia site? I'm having a problem when watching video on my Inspiron 9300 which involves a blue screen of death and a long message about an "infinite loop" and nv4_disp. I'm gonna start by updating my video card driver (nVidia Geforce go 6800), but the friggin nVidia site is confusing and I can't seem to find the proper page to download the latest driver for that card. (I can find it for the 7800, but not older models).
Anybody provide any assistance here? |

Should've gone with ATI then. :)
I mean here: //www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp |

I would agree with langdon...but I can't find the drivers for the 6800 anywhere either. Just out of curiousity, what type of file are you trying to play?

With nVidia don't they normally just use a generic Detonator Pack or something I think they call it? |

This is the link to the latest ForceWare pack (will work with your 6800):

If the NVidia supplied driver still doesn't work for you Dell should have a driver on their website that's compatible. |

I believe if you run Windows update it will list a new NVidia driver for Dell laptops. I saw it but did not load it because my laptop works. My policy is if it aint broke .... |

That's only true if you uninstall the current driver. I used that when my ATi driver failed. So I suppose you could try and switch back to the onboard display adaptor, uninstall the nvidia driver, and then use windows update to get it back. Not sure if that'll work though...

Dell just grabs WHQL drivers from the nVidia site. The ForceWare drivers that Madman linked are the latest. Video drivers are updated regularly so it is a good idea to check regularly.
Sorry Langdon, Sam I have to stay with nVidia as ATITech does have good products (that chipset in the Xbox 360 rocks) but their coders aren't so good.

My mistake. It is not a driver but Graphics Controller update:
Dell Inc. - Video - Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
Date last published: 11/10/2005
Download size: 3.1 MB
Intel Corporation display software update released on September 20 2005.

I do agree with SamDoe on this one... I have had windows update want me to go back a rev or two, on both Video (ForceWare) and audio (nForce mobo drivers)... I think nVidia updates their stuff and microsoft finds out later even though MS WHQL certifies them...

I just got a 9300 as well (but got the ATI:). Have you tried going to the DELL site and logging in? It should have a section in your profile with updates, if needed, for various spec parts.
EDIT TO ADD:
Yup, just went and looked. Login, under 'my support', click on 'product support'. On that page you will see "Troubleshooting" and right under it lists, drivers and dowloads. Hope it helps :)
