Shot 4,000 on a commercial shoot which ended 2/26, and didn't feel like picking up a camera though I adore square crop. Here's what I would have entered had it been eligible, shot 2/26, comments welcomed. I don't know how a motion blur would've done in this challenge.

Left a comment Lynne.

Hey Chris (alienyst), ya I almost did. Warned me at first and then asked for me to leave but i am stubborn and i didn't. so they said they would call the cops on me ;)

Is this challenge cursed? Hmmmmm.... if you're talking about cursed having the big guns of DPC in this challenge, then yes i would say so. I'm looking forward to seeing Larus, Arnit, Kiwiness' entries though ;) It should make for a tough challenge IMHO.

As far as predictions, just hoping to get back on the saddle again with 6+ scores. I will be bold and say 6.5 (yikes)! If I don't score a 6, I'll eat my shorts (a la DocAchoo).

Guess I oughta get mine entered. With all the big guns in on this one, I suppose I'll shoot for a 5 and hope I get that much!

I am, however, really looking forward to the stories after the challenge is over, so don't forget, guys!

*Whispers quietly as not to cause a stir* "Ehem, please be warned. I have just submitted a ribbon winner".

Thank you for your attention.

Nope. I've only "called it" one other time - and I was right. :)

As an innocent bystander might I suggest the loser has to sit out three future challenges of the winner's choosing?

Well it seems like idnic is really confident so maybe it would be too risky for you to bet anything more? Although the idea of you missing a lot of challenges appeals to my opportunitistic self ... :)

hehehehe! i too am confident about my entry ;) it better be worth that "almost arresting" moment I had when I shot this.

however, i think it's always fun to compete with a strong field so i'm thinking of something more fun like a photo of the loser "eating their shorts" like Achoo

or maybe a chocolate treat of the winner's choice ;)

Ehem - let it be known - I will not eat shorts! lol But chocolate goodies from the far east would be yummy! ;)

ok so I noticed a little discussion on the "balance" part of the description..so did we deside it doen't have to be centered?
03/05/2006 10:16:45 AM · #92
Personally I think if the entries were meant to be centered then the word 'centered' would have been used in the description. - Balnaced however is quite different from centered, I think the description uses the word 'balanced' to mean 'composed' in this context.

I don't think that is what was intended. I interpret the balance part to apply to the image as a whole - some subjects just don't look right in a square crop. The whole centered thing is just ridiculous - people trying to read too much into a simple sentence.

Let's hope & pray the voters agree.

If I may offer a humble suggestion: let the winner of this mini-competition dictate to the loser the subject/content/mood/whatever of his/her entry in the next challenge. It would have to be an on-topic suggestion, though. But in other words, "Okay, bud, you lost to me so take a picture MY way in the next one..."
