Sherryl - some folks use a spreadsheet and hit the update button often enough that they can enter the number of votes, average score, and determine what vote they just got. Gotta stay on top of that pesky update button, though!

Someone around here can probably share the spreadsheet with you.

"I am a new member and a VERY amateur photographer who joined with the purpose of learning as much as possible from a group of extremely talented and creative folk.
I have entered my first challenge, "comfort" and have voted on two challenges, and just have a couple comments.
First, I agree that people need to read the descriptions, not just the challenge title. The title "Comfort" said to me "something that is or makes you comfortable". The description said, "something that comforts you". To me they're not necessarily the same thing. And when I voted I had to keep reminding myself of the description and the fact that what one may not take comfort in, whether it's religion, alcohol, furry animals or whatever, another could. My pic has gotten one comment questioning "comfort", and it definitely IS something that comforts me.
I am not going to vote on the "painting with light" challenge, though.
My photography knowledge, especially concerning use of lighting, is so rudimentary that I don't feel qualified to vote or critique this category.
When I do vote, I attempt to explain why I voted as I did; what I like about a picture as well as what I feel could be improved, and I hope others will do the same for me. I hope this site is more than just a place to show off, but a site to share knowledge and skills. I feel that if someone takes the time and effort to post their best they deserve my time and attention to look at it."
Having said that, I'd like to add that I'm at 4.08 right now, and totally THRILLED! I'm not too thrilled by only 4 comments though, since I'm here to learn and improve.

Thanks.....but it means I have to use my BRAIN & MATHS.....That is just to HARD for me.....

I will just stay with the "average" person, and just let the scores roll by, hoping & praying they improve with time.....We really have to accept what is served out to us, and if we stuff up, so be it, but if we don't, just maybe we can ""IMPROVE our "AVERAGE".

Maybe "ONE DAY" even get into the "TOP 10" or WIN a "RIBBON", now that would be nice.....I am "DREAMING again.

I hit exactly 5.0000 earlier and it was kinda fun to hit the update button and watch the 5's roll in, as the average never changed. Woo hoo!

Maybe after the challenge is over we should have a "who got the most 5's" contest.

I am getting killed on this one. But I cannot disagree with the comments I have recieved. It is just frustrating. But then again, if we do not fail, what have we learned? Success teaches us nothing. Edison looked at his 4000 failled attempts to make a light bulb not as failures but as learning 4000 ways not to do it. I have a few to pick from for the next challenge. I shall improve!
