I was wondering if this lens can be shoved into this case without damaging either. The length of the lens is 8.9" and the case is only 8.5". If anyone has fit this lens in let me know.

I don't need the lens, nor the case to tell you that doesn't fit :)

I was hoping the material of the case might stretch a little or that the specs might me a little off. I hate to buy a new backpack just to fit this lens in. I still have hope.

I use tamrac lens cases and believe me - there's no stretch to them. Definitely not 4". sorry.

I don't think you should force it.. like you said, I think you would damage one of them... but, I sure hope for you it will fit!!

It's not 4" but a little under half an inch. I had a feeling there was no chance of this but thought I would ask. Back to the drawing board.

Looks like it may JUST fit the diameter, but the tripod mount may push that to the limit. In the length, the lens is about 0.4" longer than the case, which MIGHT be OK since the case is soft. I have a shorter version of this case, with a lens that is pretty much exactly as long as the case. I was able to successfully put a second back cap, which is about 0.5" tall, on top the lens and still zipper the case :-)

ooooh sorry, misread. Actually, you probably can stretch it 1/2". The fabric on the top will give a bit. Worth a try ordering them, if nothing else you try it and return the lens case if it doesn't work for you.
