For some of you I realize that photography isn't a hobby. So, just for fun:
Is photography a hobby, a means of making a living, or both?
What are your other hobbies?
For me, photography is a hobby. I'd be rather destitute if it were a means of making a living.
Other hobbies:
Avid (but slow) cyclist.
Golfer with middling handicap.
Quilter (but haven't done very much of that lately).
Avid reader (mostly of fiction.)

| Photography for me is neither job nor hobby, but an addiction. It is a mistress that takes me away from my beautiful wife and family. It is an obsession. It is catharsis. It is the only thing that can get me out of bed at 4 in the morning; it is a reason to climb mountains and clamber into caves. It is my excuse for missing so many other disractions. It is my passion, my raison d'être, the vampire of my time. |

Photography is a hobby for me. I haven't made a penny off of any picture I've taken. But other things I enjoy doing:
- Video games, I love Halo 2
- Cars
- Playing guitar (I suck at it though)
- Biking, going to be in the city race this year so I need to start training again.
And last but certainly not least...
- Blowing things up :)

Photography is a hobby for me. I don't actively sell my work. I also love going for walks and reading.

photography is more than a hobby to me. It allows me to think in a creative way and it frees my mind. I really hope to get some more of it as my work after I've ended my study successfully.
Other hobbies:
- Softball (though I'm skipping this season)
- Still love to paint
- Gluebooking (don't know how to say this correctly ;))
- Reading (magazines, thrillers (Stephen King), everything of Ronald Giphart (Dutch), etc.)
- Wine & dine ;) |

Very poetic, and also very true. |

Photography is a stress relief hobby that has paid for itself from sales. In the last year paid for 20D and several good lenses, flashes, studio lights , wide photo printer. As long as it pays it's way it's a hobby. When I have to work too hard then it becomes work.
Other Hobbies:
Geocaching, hang gliding, fishing, camping, RV'ing, anything outdoors.
Photography is a way to help see the world and enjoy it's beauty. I bet most photographers see more and enjoy life more than non-artists. |

Photography is a hobby to me. I alway liked it when I was younger, but got away from it. About six years ago, I found a new hobby...lighthouses. I'm completely addicted to lighthouse. I plan vacations around them. And with the lighthouse addiction came a new interest in photography. I think that recently, especially after finding DPC, photography has surpassed lighthouse on the addiction ladder.

Hobby.
Along with:
Collecting insects, fossils & artifacts, rockhounding, beachcombing, painting, writing, kayaking, hiking, biking and spending way too much time responding to threads on DPC. |

Photography for me is somewhere between a hobby and an addiction.
Other hobbies include reading (my collection of books is becoming ridiculous!), hiking, traveling, antiquing, snorkeling (would like to get certified for scuba), and lately reptiles.
