I finally did it... I finally bought a new camera. I read and debated and justified and went back to the stores over and over to play with the cameras, and finally just went out and bought myself a D50. I feel like I'm way in over my head with all the buttons and settings! Should be fun learning though.

Now I just have to wait for the battery to charge... any other D50 users have some tips for getting started?

When I got my D70 I took a few quick shots on auto just to get a feel and then sat down with the manual and the cmaera and read the whole thing. With the camera right there I was able to actually try all the setting and things the maual explains. Helped quite a bit for when I went out for the first time. Once you get a feel try shooting on Apperture Priority mode most of the time instead of auto. I think you will find it helpful.

Good luck, have fun and welcome to club Nikon!

Thanks for the advice. I had a friend who owns a Canon trying to convince me to get the Rebel XT but I just couldn't do it :P

Edited for clumsy fingers that can't type.

Hey congrats, the D50 is becoming my fav. low cost dslr. I have Canons but recently tried another members D50 and was pleasantly surprised by how good it feels and the quality of the RAW images.
Take your time leaning with the camera and then buy some glass and then start shooting RAW.
Have fun.
