Just curious what you all think about the raw conversion software out there. I am currently using EOS Viewer and have heard that Digital Photo Professional is good too.

What software do you like? What kind of control does it give you that other programs don't???

EOS Viewer has some features I like but it seems slow to load images. I often find myself using the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer for a first look, a quick run thru & delete before shifting to another program.

DPP is good, and its free. I also use Pixmantec Raw Shooter (the paid one). DPP gives beter results with no or minimal processing, but RSP gives you a lot more options, so (IMO) you can get a better end result with RSP but it takes a bit more work.

I've played with Photo Mechanic 4 and really liked it, although I haven't been able to get it for myself yet.

how does DPP give you better results? I have it, just never used it... got used to the EOS viewer you know?

Haven't heard of Photo Mechanic before... but have no money to spend anyway!!! Damn that CS2 price tag!!! :0)

I like the EOS Viewer Utility fine. I'm limited in what I can run 'cuz I have an older version of windows. I do have a copy of Bibble, but it doesn't seem especially intuitive to me so I only tried it the once. Maybe now that I'm more RAW-competent, I'll check it again...

I've never used EOS viewer but have used Capture One Pro for a long time. I love it but now that you peaked my interest, i'll have a look at EOS Viewer too.
