Well, I̢۪m not a multi ribbon winner, like Rikki or the good Doc, but I̢۪ll leave some comments, too... in hopes it helps.

The comments are my favorite part of DPC, and I think this is a wonderful tradition DrAchoo started. I know I appreciate any I get.

I would love to get some more ideas on this shot. I personally was very impressed with it. I use it at work as my "professional" shot of my boy, because I think it has a better look and feel, and better portrays his personality than a simple head and shoulders shot from a cheap studio. Why it rated as low as it did, I'm still not 100% sure. Granted, I didn't expect it to ribbon, but I did expect it to be at least high fives or low sixes going in to the challenge.

I entered this into "Reflections Without Mirrors" and only scored 5.0 though I thought it was a great interesting shot. What caused it to score so low in your opinion?

Thank you both for your comments.

Hopefully through this site I will learn something about how to take better photographs, although a lot of this seems to come down to post-processing in Photoshop.

Ideally, I'd like to do it all 'in-camera' and have the perfect shot without needing modification, but I guess that's next to impossible?

Having spent some time on this and it not doing too well, I'd like any feedback that's available...

Thanks in advance...

I was going for an "aged" look without using sepia. Thank you so much for doing this!!!

I'm a newbie here, and only have the one photo. It did better than I expected here, seeing as it's of a child and taken with a P&S camera.

But, as I'm trying to learn, if I could get some comments it would be very much appreciated.

Let's see if I can figure out how to post a thumbnail now . . .

Okay - that part was easy !

TIA.
