The 50-500mm EX DG for a Minolta mount. I've decided this is the lens for me. The older version (RM) can be bought just about anywhere, even EBay.
I have checked B&H ($969.00), Sigma4less ($919.00), Ritz Camera (doesn't have Minolta mount) and any other that showed up when I did a Google search, with no luck.
I passed by the camera store by me and he told me IF he could get it......$1250.
B&H will gladly bill you for it and send it to you when they get it. But, they don't know when they'll get it and won't tell you/me how many people will get their's before me.
My main problem is I don't have a credit card. So, I am limited to either sending a check or using PayPal. So here i am asking if anyone sees one somewhere, please let me know.
Thanks

Go to your bank and get a check/debit card. It can be used like a credit card but pulls money from your checking account.

Thx for the advise. But, my main problem is finding the lens. I always figure out payment later.

Called that company. Special order AKA not in stock. Also, the price is $969.00, not $999.000. Thanks for trying.
Faidoi - yep, checked them too.

I checked buydig.com, they don't even carry that lens. The closest thing that they have is the Tamron SP AF 200-500mm F5-6.3 DI LD.

I have a huge feeling that the Bigmas we're either sold out or pulled because of KM selling their camera business to Sony. Sigma could be relabeling them or something.
You may want to check out the Konica Minolta SLR Talk Forum at Dpreview for suggestions also.

I don't think they would have pulled them entirely because BHPhoto is still accepting orders. I think they are just sold out for now.

After trying the other forums, I have gotten responses such as
1. B&H is reputable and I can pay them and they will ship when they get it. But, nobody can give me even an approx. date.
2. Sigma USA ran out and is waiting for a new batch from Japan.
3. They stopped producing them until mid-March.
Here was my response:
Thx for all your responses. I guess I have 2 choices..Wait till I can actually get 1 (I don't like the idea of paying B&H for something even they don't know when I'll get it) or my other option would be the 100-400 f/4. I guess I'll have to see if 100mm is wide enough.
Before responding, I'll tell you that the lens would be used mainly for outdoor sports--approx distances would vary from about 30ft to about 250ft and I'm not so sure 100mm is wide enough at the shorter distances--I do know 70mm is--I would like to get as 'close' to the action as possible, but also for wildlife (anticipating a move to Colorado as soon as a position opens). I'm also not sure 300mm would be long enough.
Any other ideas on lenses?
Tokina AT-X 840 AF-II 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 (I dont know anything about Tokina)
Or something else in that category.
Ca anyone here can help me decide. I'm at my wits end.
