I have decided to celebrate Lent this year (I'm not catholic or lutheran). Perhaps that doesn't make sense to people who aren't Christian and it may not even make sense to people who are, but I'm doing it for personal reasons.

That being said, I'm giving up photography. Actually, I'm already "cheating" because I'm fully planning on taking pictures in Miami Beach this weekend and, no, I'm not going to return any potential ribbon for Painting With Light. :)

Anyway, I'll be around until Tuesday and then I'll be gone until Easter. Hopefully I will come back spiritually renewed as well as creatively charged!

Jason,

I definitely think there is something special about a spiritual discipline during Lent. Something you might want to consider is that some traditions "suspend" the discipline on the Sundays during Lent.

I find that Easter is much more of a celebration when I have paid attention to the journey of Lent leading up to it. I will expect to see some celebration of Easter photos on your return! :)

This is true. In the Anglican church Sundays are considered little festivals and it is okay to relax Lenten fasts on that day.

So, basically, you didn't even give up the thing you gave up?
