I was scheduled to do a wedding in Dayton, OH, on July 1, but due to illness/medical bills of the bride-to-be, they can no longer afford to pay all the travel expenses, etc.

I am searching for someone in the Dayton,OH area who would be willing to shoot the wedding very inexpensively. Perhaps you are looking to learn, and get some wedding shots to build your portfolio, and would be willing to take this on.

I would say that this would be a case where you could shoot the wedding,do some normal post-processing, and burn to disk for about $500.00, and maybe give them an 8x10 or two. Let them get the rest of the photos printed at Walmart or something on their own.

Thanks,
Linda

I have a huge fear of giving over a disk with pics on it - you have no control over what/how they print them, and your name will be attached to the prints regardless.

I'm not necessarily asking someone to do that, just making a suggestion. They could handle it however they wish, obviously.

I've done a couple of weddings this way, by their request. I put a copyright notice on the disc (burned to the disk, and physically on the disk) saying that they had personal reprint rights only, and giving my name, business name, address, phone numbers; and that I retained copyright to the photos and they could not be used for any purpose other than personal use without my permission. For one of those - my local Walmart actually called me to make sure it was OK to print them.

I don't have a problem with this; I mean, what are they going to do with them? It's their wedding photos, nothing else.

(Besides, I actually KNOW of people who are purchasing a bunch of 4x6's of their wedding photos, then SCANNING them and printing out what they want. And YES, I have said a few choice words to them about it.)

I work with a woman (my now part time job :D ) who scans and copies - piti as her husband is trying to get into HS seniors and weddings...i guess you're not born with ethics.

I can do a wedding, from consultation to finished album and prints in 25 or so hours. sample albums and my cost of the album varies - $40 to 140 depending on what company, a jacket or not, etc. Prints are cheap, well up to 10x13. I don't do proofs anymore - the album works for that, and i can put pics online (the cheapest wedding package you don't get the online bit). they can use the album to pick the prints as most folks only pic formal shots anyway for enlargement.
