Hi guys,

I'm sure this could be found on the forum already, I've tried searching, but the search function here leaves much to be desired.

I'm looking to get a circular polorizer and have narrowed it down to 3:

B&W Pol circular MRC 62 E - 64Euros
or
Hoya Pol circular Super HMC 62 - 57Euros
or
Hoya Pol circular HMC 62 - 43Euros

Not a big differnce in price. Can anyone shead any light on which is better? I've heard of some colour cast issues with the Hoya.

Cheers

I've got a couple of the basic Hoyas, and they work fine. I've read that B&W is top of the line, but i've never used them. If the price difference doesn't bother you, no reason not to get the B&W.

I'd recommend the Hoya Super HMC ... it has a harder multicoating than the regular HMC and is easier to clean. The B+W might be good too, but I have no first-hand experience with it.

I have a 67mm Tiffen polarizer, and I've been happy with it so far.

I've hard that Nikon polarizers are very good as well, but I think they are pretty expensive and I wouldn't be suprised if they are made by B&W or somebody else. I have a Nikon 52mm polarizer for my 50mm and 24mm lenses and it is the best polarizer I've ever used. I bought a cheap one a while back and it works pretty well too, but the Nikon is surely better.

I assure you Nikon makes their own polarizers, and they are some of the best made. I personally like the older units that were bigger than the filter threads, but Nikon change the design since they were interfering with the newer style bayonet hoods.

I have a 62mm B+W slim circular polarizer that I no longer use since I don't have any 62mm thread lenses since going to Olympus. If interested PM me.

I have a B & W (not sure if it's MRC) and a Hoya SMC (super multi coated). Both work great.

I agree, their older polarizers are great. My 52mm Nikon Polarizer is one of the older ones that is larger than the 52mm threads. It is so nice to operate and it does an exceptional job.

I prefer the B&W but I have both.
