Are vignettes allowed in Advanced Editing?

As long as you don't use it to entirely obscure or eliminate a "major element" a vignette effect should be OK in Advanced challenges.

Ok, I don't want to dredge up an old discussion, but I thought the use of gradients had been ruled adding an element if the gradation was not already present. (link to discussion I'm thinking of)

Again, not trying to stir up a previous discussion, but I would like to keep my confusion to a minimum. Have gradients been ruled legal? ... or is it different when the gradient is circular, as with a vignette?
