While looking for a telephoto lens for myself I saw a Sigma 500mm f4.5 lens on ebay for $999 buy it now. This is not the present model with HSM, its an older, and cheaper version. | Older Sigma lenses may have a problem communicating with the Rebel. Re-chipping may be necessary. |

I didn't think Sigma was still re-chipping older lenses. I'd check before buying that the lns either does not nee re-chipping, or if it does that it can be done reasonably. |
