Took some headshots for this beautiful lady today. These were the favorite of what I took, but I'm not sure how to edit them.
Here's my first round of editing. Any suggestions of what I could do better, what looks good already...etc would really help me out.

Thank Y'all.

I think they are excellent, and you are right she is beautiful.

A couple things-
-What lens did you use for the shots? The two close up ones seem to have been used with a fairly short focal length which causes her head to look big for her body.

-with her dark hair, a hairlight would help seperater her hair from the background.

The contrast and lighting are very pleasing. Excellent job :)

I'm not sure, but 1,2, and 4 look a little soft....but the vivid contrast makes them stand out.

Great shots.

I think the hair is pretty well separated from the BG. The exposure and lighting are very well done. The two closer shots seem to have been done with a WA lens and suffer from some unattractive distortion on her face. The other two don't have that look.

I agree with the others here on teh lens used - wide angle causs distortions. If that is the look you were after, you did it well.

#3 seems a bit ghostly, perhaps a duotone? The skin lacks any features/texture. Again, fine if that is what you are after but i prefer more detail.

I think tohave some with the hair blending into the BG is fine, but to see it on all four it looks bad IMO. You need a BG light or hair light to make her stand out and pop from the BG.

THey eyes are wonderful in all of them.

I like the catchlights, although they could be a little 'busy'.

I also agree about the hair/contrast in general - I can see benefit to blending in her black top with the background (2, 3 & 4), but some high (side?) backlight might help to separate her head from the bg.

#1 does have a 'ghostly' feel to it, although it could be my monitor and in fact just be a little soft. Could you push that further and make it dreamy? - might fit her expression? You also seem to be losing some detail in her forehead.

#2 is better - both in terms of her hair being separate from the bg and keeping the tones in the face. The pose is nice, and what a wonderful smile! My eye keeps being drawn to the hair on her back.

#3 I like a lot. Was she wearing make-up? I feel there could be a little more contrast on her features on this one. (darker eyeshadow/blusher/lipstick). The eyes are great in this- they look so deep!

#4 Another dreamy/soft pic. I like the pose and the expression. Exposure seems right. Could maybe use same treatment as #1? Also still distracted by hair on her back.

The distortion from the WA lens doesn't bother me, btw. Where it's really noticeable, I actually think it helps the photo.

Just my 5 eggs.
