Hi
I am teaching my grandparents internet and sending emails. I have two email accounts ( both with hotmail) They send email from my one account to another. They got hang of it but they are only comfortable using outlook express and have not accessed from web using a browser.( i plan to teach them in steps i.e first they get comfortable with outlook than next step is using through web).
I made a new email account with hotmail and tried to configure it with Outlook express 6. I got this strange message "Hotmail no longer allows email access via Outlook Express for free Hotmail/MSN accounts"
while my earlier two acounts are also free but older.
So which email service can i use that still allows me to configure it with outlook express.
It is kind of important as my grandparents seem to enjoy learning net and if i make them switch to web based format it will be too much too soon

Make sure you teach them to recognize and avoid responding to "phishing" emails, and not to open attachments they aren't expecting; even if it appears to be from someone they know.
The best way to explain it is that the "From" address on an email is like the return address on the outside of an envelope on a regular mail letter. Just like on a regular letter, there's nothing stopping me from writing your name there.
They should know the following:
- If they get an email from the bank or anyone else asking them to verify information, they should NOT verify that information online. Instead, CALL the bank. Get the phone number from a source other than the email, like a telephone book, bank statement or business card.
-If you get an email with a file attached, and you aren't expecting it, call the person who sent it BEFORE you open it, to make sure it's really from them.
Let me know if you need a gmail invite; I have more than I'll ever use.
