So I finally decided to revist my most troublesome challenge entry.
I loved the graininess of the original, was never happy with the coloration of the glass in the lamp and wanted a darker shadow. It has taken me a long time to come up with the vision I like the most for this rework...a mosaic tile treatment.
The tiles accurrately provide the textured feel I wanted in the shot and the new shaded border widens the field of view while still hinting at the crop I originally intended.
What da ya think?
Before (2004): After (2006):
btw: Let's see one of your reworks!

I like the first one better. Both, particularly the second one, seems noisy - could be intentional, but i don't like it. the second is too dark IMO.

I like the rework better. It is darker, but not too dark. |

I have started going back through thousands of images from the past three years, now that I have taken a 15 hour photoshop course.
Here's one example of what I thought was almost trash that has become almost treasure:
before: and after:
edit to add that I just looked up the date the photo was taken, and it was also taken in 2004, and I just reworked it last month.
